Summary: Our goal as seeking Children of God is to become like Jesus Christ. We must hang out with him until we become like him. We must have a true love relationship with Jesus Christ. We must have a faith relationship with God.

The Goal

Ephesians 4:11-13

It was he [Jesus] who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (NIV)

The true function of a Christian

The true function of a Christian, is to reveal Christ Jesus to the world, through works of service. Through our faithfully completing the acts of service, we come to understand just who Christ Jesus is, and those people who witness, and/or benefit from them, also see God in action.

Your Life must be a True Testimony of Christ

Being a Christian is far more of who we are, and what we do, than what we say and where we spend Sunday morning. You can talk about Jesus until you are blue in the face, but your life is the true testimony.

Our goal: Increase Your Knowledge of God

Our goal, as Christians, is to increase our knowledge of God. What kind of person is God? What would he do, or say, in my situation? What pleases him? Your level of Christian maturity is directly proportional to your knowledge of Jesus Christ. The relationship God desires with us, is a relationship of love, and I don't know any way to have a love relationship with someone I don't know. The closer I am to someone, the better I know them, and the better I know them, the more I can please them. The more I please them, the more they will trust me with their heart, and so I can get even closer. Also the more of myself that I entrust to them, the closer they can draw near to me.

Spend Time with God

What I am talking about applies to human relationships, but more importantly, it also applies to our relationship of love with God. We come to know God better by spending time with him; in his Word, with fellow believers, in prayer, and in listening to his Spirit as we live our lives on the Earth. With this knowledge we live to please the One we love. In pleasing him, we draw nearer to him, and he in turn, draws nearer to us.

Come near to God and he will come near to you. James 4:8 (NIV)

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. Jesus Christ -- John 14:1 (NIV)

Whereas our relationship has some aspects of the tender relationship between a wife and her husband, a relationship with God also has some of the aspects of a child/parent relationship. As a child trusts its parents to supply all its needs, so too we must trust in God to care for us. This is very important. It is through this trust that God expands our understanding of him.

For example: If I make a mistake at work and am tempted to lie about it, or cover it up deceitfully, but then I hear the Spirit say; "Trust me," and so I do what the Lord would do, then I watch God's power in action. After seeing how the Lord used the mistake for my good, my love for him increases and my confidence in his loving care for me becomes more established.

Trust in God

If I trust in him, and not take dubious action, I can see and learn more about my loving God. The Lord will use every situation to strengthen you, mature you, and in general, make you more like him, that is, you will become a child of God in truth. Also when I refrain from ungodly action, even at the cost of personal loss, or pain, or embarrassment, I will grow in my understanding of God, and because of this I will have joy. Great joy springs from the heart that knows it has pleased the One it loves.

Christianity is not really a religion

Christianity is not really a religion. It is a real and true relationship with the God of all creation, through his Son Jesus Christ. It is a relationship of love and trust. God is good, and he wants us to want to be like him, to please him, as he desires to please us. He wants us to trust him to do good by us. Trust to the point of possible hurt and loss, because to displease the One we love, would give us greater pain than personal loss.

My dear reader, I leave you now with this word of caution; the bulk of teaching today has nothing to do with the truth. What is acceptable at most churches is not acceptable to God. If you have entered into a relationship with God, then you belong to him, and as such you have become his ambassador here on earth. If you have accepted his "proposal" and have become his bride/child then live to please your "husband'. Anything less and you are just fooling yourself.

May I be pleasing in his sight.
May I be the child of his delight.
May I bring honor to his name.
May I lead others to the same.
Ambassadors As a true Christian you renounce your citizenship of
any earthly government and accept the
citizenship of heaven and then therefore
act as an Ambassador from Heaven
assigned to the Earth.
Apostles and Prophets in the Modern ChurchHas the day of Apostles and Prophets pasted in the
modern church? The Bible says no.
The Bible says that that day does not
pass until the Lord's Second Coming.

Believing in JesusTo believe in Jesus Christ is NOT to believe
that he EXISTS, but rather that he is
the Son of God and therefore every
single word that he spoke is to be
completely obeyed and worshipped.

totally honest with yourself about everything.

have a true love relationship with Jesus
Christ. We must have a faith relationship

God AlmightyGod is bigger than ANYONE can imagine--
infinitely bigger. God can tell you how many
individual cells are in your body and the state
of health of each and every one of them.

we will honestly look and think we can see
God's brilliance through his creation. The
world is not an accident. God's revealed
answers are found in the Bible--read it.
