"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
II Corinthians 5:17

Faking My Father's Features

Denis Brent Rees

I come unto You Father I come unto You Lord
from my actions it seems it's You I've ignored
At best I have not always done what is right
Lord test me for in all ways I ought be contrite

Father am I satisfied with the least to get by
have I denied Thee without even asking why
What have I to show a nation I have changed
will they know salvation's nothing I arranged

When others look at me Lord who do they see
have You been smothered so they see only me
How often have I faltered Father in serving You
am I now altered or self-serving in all that I do

Father do I appear to be that truly new creature
are there old ways I yet dearly love to feature
Is it You Father my life will cause others to seek
or due to strife is this testimony still too weak

Father who is the last person I told Thy story
alas Lord am I pursuing only my personal glory
Do I begin each day by reading from Thy Word
may I even reach one needing to be assured

Father am I now living like a child of The King
can I be forgiving while to the old life I cling
Take me to my knees Lord where I need to be
make me so I please You and lead men to Thee

In The Name of Christ Jesus

Amen!
