Gracious Heavenly Father before it becomes too late
we must face the truth and get some priorities straight
Few of us begin each morning with quiet times with You
yet we do reach for things that might fit our lists to do

We have a copy of Your Word setting not too far away
but have no plans to refer to it on just an ordinary day
Father God we like what You say and have read all pages
it's just not our way to daily read of Apostles and sages

If You knew how many places we need to be each week
may You would know of any ways there'd be to tweak
Yes we have neighbors with whom we have not shared
they labor too and we waved in efforts to show we cared

Did Your Son mean we should always put You as first
can one or two others stay up front to quench our thirsts
And Father did He say our seeking comes before blessing
was Your Son teaching there's to be no second guessing

Then Father let us start now to put You ahead of others
to send messages from hearts to Sisters and Brothers
Never are You our Creator to accept our next to best
no matter how Satan says except we can stand the test

Glory to You Father Maker of all creatures and of earth
Creator of all things including features of our own births
Savior of those who choose to live their lives as did He
who lose themselves to savor a life that glorifies Thee
