"Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me." Psalms 41:9

From Friends to Foes

Denis Brent Rees

Gracious Father God our Safe Haven from troubles The Tower of Power when we cave in to struggles Although some maelstrom can find us left in tatters no gales from mankind to You is deft as it gathers

Lord You know our pains even if they're unspoken for The Love that You show us remains unbroken Enemies may turn on us until we burn with strife then squeeze and spurn us 'til they churn our life

'Tis often when we see things serene and calmest they tend to be meanest as men did the psalmist The closest to us come against us as in days of yore from friends to foes they sense how to faze us more

Oh Lord in times when perils stem from ones we trust for no rhymes nor reasons there'll be seasons unjust Lord rescue us from hurts done by their crafted ploys from any more dirt and residue unto Thy rafts of joys

As David penned the story of his own turncoat friend he craved to render glory to Father God without end We come unto Thee in prayer for Thy healing touch numb and reeling from where we're hurting so much

When sin's winds have blown us off course in life's sea no sinful forces can own us for our refuge is Thy alee Thy Holy Spirit has never suffered even one small loss no spree of fears is clever enough for ALL at the cross

In The Name of Christ Jesus

Amen!
