Father God in Thy Word we read of man's history
of murders harlots thieves miracles and mystery
Those who state they cannot relate to Your Word
have not read or have not seen or have not heart

In it we see where we were and where we're going
with winds of disgrace blowing seeds we are sowing
Operator's Manual and our every day Reference Book
wisdom power and hope on every page when we look

Living without Thy Word is life left to odds of chance
temporary winners ending with no cause for a dance
Idols galore in song or print or teams or silver screen
flashing forces of wrong with nothing valid to mean

How enduring Your Word and how firm its foundation
written for every man and woman no matter a nation
Some say they have read but just can not understand
seeing words but remaining blind to Your commands

Father if we do not spend time in Thy Word each day
how can we help but drift and wander along our way
If we are unable to read Thy Word as each day starts
woe be unto us lest it be securely hidden in our hearts
