Is It I?

Father God is it I who will betray Your Son
not some day soon but ere this day is done
There is none other who knows me like You
what I've done and what I'm inclined to do

Will I betray Him by that one evil thought
or when I've become angry and ought not
Tell me it won't be as I did just yesterday
as matters befell me I deemed less okay

Could it be I will cause You unneeded pain
when I should pause to read yet I abstain
Or might it be when I fail in sharing Hope
slighting the frail of mind who cannot cope

Some days seem I've too much on my plate
such that I do not have My Lord on my slate
Father God it may be what I tend to treasure
or maybe depending on how I handle pressure

I cannot remember when I last sang to Christ
likely a phone rang and I forgot what I prized
I recall that I used to have a better behavior
now I seem to be fettered by all but My Savior

Lest I should think I only betray My Lord Jesus
tis You my God The Three In One who frees us
Lord I plead for forgiveness for my betrayals
God fill me with Thy Holy Spirit Who never fails
