I Corinthians 13:1-13

Love

Love displays patience so we're clearly told

yet we show impatience both young and old

Help us be patient with every person around

not just when we share any common ground

 

True Love never fails to prove that it's kind

yet when You look at us how little You find

Father You teach us to be kind in every day

but we let our selfishness stand in the way

 

Love always rejoices in knowing the truth

'though at times we rejoice in the uncouth

When we're confronted by truth and fact

You must be ashamed by the way we act

 

"I love you" flows like water from some taps

when we're called to love we suffer a relapse

In beauty we have no problem showing love

love for the ugly we leave to our Lord above

 

Father we are who we are because of Love

Love You sent to us here from Heaven above

And still most of our love is left merely to talk

disciples of Christ need to put Love in our walk

 

Jesus said if we love Him we'll do His commands

we think 'Love' until we have to dirty our hands

When others live and speak with our approval

we love them and if not we seek their removal

 

Oh when Father will we live the Love You intend

when will we share daily The Love that You send

Just when will Love come first in our own behavior

and when will we love like the Love of our Savior

 

Dear Father thank You for the patience You show

love us until we walk in The Love that we know

Those conditions we place on our love is our loss

our love is not as The Love that went to the cross

 

True Love is found through Christ Jesus The Way

His Love is the true Love we all need to display

Love is lived out when our Christ Jesus is served

Lord so far we're loved much more than deserved
