"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."
Genesis 3:6

Sinning From The Beginning

Denis Brent Rees

Precious Father wonderful God ever so caring
by our own blunders are our woes so glaring
Soon after the first couple chose to disobey
You saw sin no more subtle than ours today

Eve was swayed by evil to take an initial bite
unafraid she bit into the victual without fright
And so breaking of commands begins with Eve
she and her man's forsaking are sins we weave

One sin infected every new genealogical line
none but One affected by sin 's illogical design
What looked good would stain each generation
with sin there could be no gain nor veneration

The serpent said look these will be fine for you
it took no tormenting whine for the force to woo
Lord we do not understand why they'd choose
for blundering and pandering laid paths to lose

Lord set our eyes on The Savior from Bethlehem
in Him is power to mend behavior we saw in them
Sin did not enter this world by way of the apples
yet it unfurled waves of stains of sin's gray dapples

Lord what have we learned from Eden's disaster
have we not discerned that evil is its own master
Just a glance just a taste just a moment with sins
lust and chance hasten sin's foment and evil wins

In The Name of Christ Jesus

Amen!
