How Sweet Are Thy Words

Sweet Power within me I cede Thee full control
meet me where I need Thee ere sin takes its toll
Without You at the helm winds lead me astray
no doubt I seldom keep sin from having its way

Sweet Holy Spirit may You rain all over my heart
these unholy gains show me I need a new start
May I be a kind of flower worthy of reflecting You
not a sour reminder of what neglecting You can do

Sweet Jesus won't You be my Light and My Guide
what pleases You for me to do is follow and abide
How I want to show You I can claim Your Name
so far I flaunt You and I know I bring You shame

Sweet is Your fragrance and gentle is Thy Hand
I need not be one of the vagrants idly in this land
Help me do more than wear Thee as a fancy label
but let man see that Your care will make me able

Sweet are Thy words that bring comfort unto me
yet a mighty fortress You are when being my alee
Like the parables of Thy Son confused Pharisees
life can be unbearable unless it's You I will please

Sweeter is a lifetime of service that's to Thy glory
than anytime my purpose is to hype my own story
You understood my fall and yet You loved me still
I have not stood so tall 'til I have lived for Thy will
