"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:13
The War of the Will
Denis Brent Rees
Slier than any fox and wily as a seasoned thief
Satan searches for ways to confound our belief
The asp whose belly slid through Eden's garden
takes pleasure seeing believers' hearts harden
No lower on earth is another creature of any kind
he frolics in the playground of our unarmed mind
This fiend with a quiverful of his own poison darts
shoots for the weak spot then his adventure starts
If we think Satan doesn't exist our thinking's flawed
we're told to "take unto you the whole armour of God"
Father those who perceive no armour is really needed
are slain by the enemy when Your Word is not heeded
Fools that we are with visions of "the cute little devil"
see how lives are attacked at every tier and each level
Father this evil being who went after Your Only Son
has no respect for Your children and stalks every one
Attacks take place any time our faith becomes blurred
targeted and tossed we need the anchor of Your Word
If the ants at a picnic stealthily steal our family's food
easier targets are we with a "devil may care" attitude
Father we come crying to You when we've been hurt
yet Your armour stays in our closet held for "red alert"
We are such easy prey when Your armour is not worn
when not rapt in Your Word we are maimed and torn
In The Name of Christ Jesus
Amen!
