You know the Word of God, my man,
And no-one quotes just as you can,
So let me ask a simple thing:
Just how much knowledge did you bring
When you were born, so long ago?
So tell me now, friend, if you know.
And when you die will knowledge cease?
Or will our ears find sweet release?
Your knowledge, I admit increased,
But where is all that blessed peace
That God did promise to us all?
Find it now, friend, lest ye fall!

The Word of God is used.
No wonder, with your attitude,
The listeners have refused.
But Love is that great medium
We use to transmit Truth.
But I'm sure that you knew that,
And have known it from your youth.
.................................................
If any man lacks wisdom
Let him ask of God, right now,
Let him ask in faith, not doubting.
(But you'd know that, anyhow!)
What, then, can I tell you?
For you know the Word as I.
Get wisdom; dwell in love;
And keep on asking Why?
..................................................
The scalpel, not the club,
Is the two-edged sword's relation.
And used with deft, and loving strokes,
On us, God's blest creation.
..................................................
Knowledge without wisdom
Is a roaring fire set free,
That burns each thing it licks at,
Burning all, including me.
.................................................
Lord, sometimes as I sit alone
Just listening for your call;
I know that I know nothing.
No! Not a thing at all!
