Lesson 403: "God Loves You"
This disturbing set of questions and comments was sent to me: "I am not an extraordinary individual. I am not a genius. I am average height, average weight, and average intellect. I have poor grades. I am not that physically fit or attractive. I have not done anything with my life. I have no friends at all. I have no opportunities to be involved in foreign mission work, domestic mission work, preaching, pastoral leadership, community service projects and so on. I have never changed the course of history in radical and profound ways. I am not famous. What good can I do for God? Why would God want to love a worthless human being, a lost soul, like myself? What does God want me for?"
Answer: You may not be famous to the world but if you are saved through faith in Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:8), then you are a child of God (Gal. 3:26). God has your name written His Book of Life (Rev. 20:15) and Jesus knows your name (John 10:27-30). God loved the world enough to sacrifice His only Son to save you (John 3:16) and this makes you famous in His eyes. You are an extraordinary individual because God created you (Ps. 139:13-14) and you are not a lost soul but a child of the King. You were created for God's pleasure (Rev. 4:11 KJV) and He wants you to give Him praise and honor. What else does God want from you? To do for the least of your brothers and therefore you will be doing this for Him (Matt. 25:35-40). His command is that you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself (Matt. 22:37-40).
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior you will suffer as a Christian but praise God anyway (1 Pet. 4:16) and then you will be able to serve God by bringing lost souls into His Kingdom as commanded (Matt. 28:19-20). Abraham believed and obeyed and the old sheep man became the father of nations (Gen. 12:1). Moses stuttered and had to have Aaron speak for him but God sent him to deliver the Israelites (Ex. 4:14). Saul was from the smallest tribe and the least of clans yet God anointed him the first king of Israel (1 Sam. 9:21, 10:1). David was JUST a boy tending sheep but God called him a man after his own heart (1 Sam. 16:12, Acts 13:22). There were no great men in the Bible, just a Great God!
God knows you and He knows the plans He has made for you and all you have to do is come to Him and pray and He will listen (Jer. 29:11-14).
