Lesson 339: "Liberty - A Prayer to Share"
Written by my friend Denis Rees
“And where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty” (2 Cor. 3:17 KJV).
Liberty, my God I seek eternal liberty so internally I hide thy Word literally.
Should we drift apart renew my heart for it is I who has left love you impart.
Liberty, a blessing I’ve on occasion tasted only second guessing sensations wasted.
Father I come to Thee sorely enchained asking how to rid my soul of sin retained.
Liberty, never found in earth’s pleasures tho’ cleverly bound in searchers’ treasures.
Carefully adorned in bright colored places there you are scorned by enamored faces.
Liberty, why should I ever be surprised Thy Word’s skewered and compromised.
Still I’ve a choice what my soul swallows as I hear Thy voice whom my soul follows.
Liberty, by Thy mercy I shall never perish.. I’ve a reserved place near my God I cherish.
Painfully my Savior wept for me at the Cross. Not vainly He swept me from a certain loss.
Liberty, is this day offered by my dear Lord? Victory over death on the Cross underscored?
I felt dismayed by years of trial and despair all the while You displayed how You still care.
In the Name of Christ Jesus, amen!
