Lesson 389: "He Says Come"

The accuser is none other than Satan and he is alive and active in this world today. Satan is known as the deceiver and his target is our minds (Colossians 2:18-19) and his weapons are lies (John 8:44). His purpose is to make us ignorant of God’s will (2 Corinthians2:11, 2 Peter 3:5-8) and our defense is the inspired Word of God (1 Peter 1:13). The devil is also known as the destroyer and his target is our body both natural and spiritual and the entire Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:44, 12:12). His weapon as the destroyer is suffering (Romans 8:18, Jude 7) and his purpose is to make us impatient (James 5:7). Our defense is God’s grace (John 1:14-16).

Another name for Satan is the ruler where his target is our will, or our willingness to follow Christ (1 Chronicles 28:9, Matthew 26:41). His weapon as a ruler is our pride (Job 3:5-12) and his purpose is to make us “independent” or make us think we are independent of God’s will (Jude 11, James 4:13-17). Our defense against this evil ruler in our lives is the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16, Jeremiah 24:7). The accuser targets our heart and conscience (Numbers 15:39, Acts 8:21, 1 Timothy 4:2) and uses accusations as his weapon (1 Peter 2:16). The purpose of attacking our hearts and searing over our conscience is so that we will doubt the Word and believe his subtle changes (Genesis 3). Our defense against this condemnation is the intercession of Jesus Christ (1 John 2:1).

The accuser never rests and jumps on every chance he sees to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). We find him in Revelation and he “shows up” in Job 1. Understand that when Satan (Lucifer) was cast out of heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15) he was cast out of the throne room of God but still has access to God and roams back and forth from heaven and earth (Job 1:6-7). Remember as Lucifer he “walked” in the throne room but can no longer. He can only stand outside the throne room and shout his accusations against us and believe me he is loud. I can almost hear him at times.

Adolf Hitler wrote a book that told exactly how he would conquer Europe. The world did not believe him but he did it just like he wrote it. God wrote us a Book that tells us exactly what the devil intends to do and he knows how to attack (Zechariah 3). He and his evil army are working harder to get the world into hell than the world is working to stay out of hell. However, in the end the devil is cast out of heaven or any access to heaven (Revelation 12:10) and Christ Himself will shout him down (1 Thessalonians 4:16). Until “that Day” we must put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17), love the Lord our God with all the things Satan will attack (Luke 10:27) and trust God to protect us from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3). Hang in there until Jesus comes for us in the last days (Revelation 3:21). “THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS BE WITH GOD’S PEOPLE” (Revelation 22:21).
