Lesson 329: "Whenever It Depends On You"
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone” (Rom. 12:18). We know that the Father draws (Jh. 6:44), the Holy Spirit convicts (Jh. 16:8) and salvation is found in no one else but Christ Jesus (Acts 4:10-12). We know too that Jesus told His “children” He would be with them only a little longer on earth (Jh. 13:33). After the Resurrection of Christ He gave this promise, “surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matt. 28:20b), and to this He added, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it” (Jh. 14:12-14). Jesus Christ has done all He needs to do for you and now it depends on you!
If I typed out all that depends on you I would actually be rewriting the entire Bible so instead I have compiled a list and through the strength of God you can indeed do all things (Phil. 4:13).
). Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved (Acts 16:31, Acts 2:21).
). Obey His commands (Jh 14:15, 1 Cor. 7:19b).
). Seek and listen to the Holy Spirit (Jh. 16:13).
). Know the Only True God (Jh. 17:3).
). Be in complete unity to let the world know that God indeed sent His Son (Jh. 17:23, 3:16-18).
). Receive power of Holy Spirit and be a witness (Acts 1:8).
). Obey God rather than man (Acts 5:29).
). Have faith to be healed (Acts 14:9).
). Be a Berean (Acts 17:11).
). Boldly and without hindrance preach the Kingdom of God and teach about the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 28:31).
). Do not pass judgment (Rom. 2:1).
). Do not let sin master your life (Rom. 6:14).
). Bring the Good News with you wherever you go (Rom. 10:14-15).
). Do not conform to the pattern of the world (Rom. 12:1-3).
). Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer (Rom. 12:11-12).
). Do not put a stumbling block in anyone’s path (2 Cor. 6:3).
). Sow generously (2 Cor. 9:6).
). Aim for perfection (2 Cor. 13:11).
). Live by the Spirit (Gal. 5:16).
). Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3).
). Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry (Eph. 4:26).
). Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Phil 4:6).
). Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord and not for men (Col. 3:23).
). Devote yourselves to prayer (Col. 4:2).
). Encourage one another (1 Thess. 5:11).
). See to it that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God (Heb. 3:12).
). Today, if you hear His voice do not harden your heart (Heb. 4:7).
). Submit yourself to God and resist the devil (Jms. 4:7, 10).
). Love one another deeply from the heart (1 Pet. 1:22).
). Be merciful to those who doubt and snatch others from the fire. It may depend on you to save someone from eternal hell (Jude 22-23)..
Is it possible to do all these things? With God all things are possible and if God is for us who can be against us (Rom.8:31)? Whenever it depends on you and you feel you cannot then call on God’s help because we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad (2 Cor. 5:10).
