January 2008

I have completely redesigned the entire site. This project has taken me about two and half years. I wanted to get away from the older look, because the Bible is for Today. I felt as though the parchment background and the scroll links art gave the impression that the Bible was for olden times.

The new design is very fast. There is very little art work and support code. I wanted it to load fast for people that must still use a modem connection to the Internet.

The new design is also much more accessible for people with severe vision problems. I hope that it responds well with screen readers. I don't have a screen reader so I can't really test it out, but things are laid out very logically. You can view the page source to see for yourself.

I don't anticipate much use by hand held computers, but if anyone does access the site it should prove to be readable.

July 2007

I have been totally redesigning seekerstrove.com. I have been reading web programming books for a couple of years now and have decided to put what I have learned to good use. My desire is to make things look better and also work better too. I have added to the top of the article pages an automatic proverb display. Every ten seconds a randomly selected proverb should display. There are 450 proverbs in my database and one is picked out at random and displayed.

I have added new artwork to most pages and redesigned my logo to match the new artwork.

Also the page top links now point directly to most the pages.

March 2006

I have removed the new intro to SeekersTrove because of its excessive bandwidth requirement. It was an interesting project that didn't do what I had hoped. If you care to see it you can do so by following this link. Introduction to SeekersTrove.com

October 2005

I have added the new "intro" to SeekersTrove.com. The theme of the new Flash Introduction to SeekersTrove.com is that the Bible is for today as it was for yesterday. The Bible is for you, and it is for me, and it is for everyone; God does not treat peoples from different nationalities or races and/or sexes differently. The Bible is for TODAY.

One of my daughter's did most of the creative work on the intro and I did the technical work, that is, I made it work in Macromedia's Flash. The Flash is necessary to reduce the size so that it would be possible for use on the web. Flash reduced the size of the music and images from about 50 MB to about 2 MB. I'm sorry that it is a pretty big file for people with slower Internet connections, but anyone that doesn't want to wait can skip it and go directly to the home page.

I have also been updating my images throughout the site. To me, the Bible is the most important thing in this world and I want this site to reflect this fact. As I study and learn new and better Internet techniques, I want to use them to keep the site looking like someone cares about it. I believe that the content is the most important thing, (so I worked on that first), but I also believe that things should look nice and work well.

If you have any comments about the new "intro" or anything else, you can send me an email and let me know what you think.
