- Who do the virgins represent?
- Mankind.
People who think that they are Christians.
- Yes. All of the ten are waiting for the Lord to come, but only
half of them have what it takes to be accepted.
- Angels.
- The true Children of Israel.
- Half of them, that the those with oil, are true Christians, but those
without oil only think that they are Christians.
- What is the common name for the event
of the bridegroom's coming?
- Judgment Day.
- The Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
- There is some truth to this, but the official second coming of Christ
is three and a half years after this.
The Rapture.
- Yes. Although the word "rapture" does not appear in
the Bible it does describe the event well. When the Lord comes from heaven
he will first gather up his body, the Church, and then set about destroying
all that opposes his reign.
- The Last Day.
- Do all ten virgins think that they
will be collected at the coming of the bridegroom?
Yes.
- No.
- No, they all do expect to be taken. This is a clear warning to people
today. Many today think that everything is all right, but is it? This parable
shows that at the time of Christ's coming fifty percent of those that think
that they are Christians are. Today the number is much less! Before the
coming of the Lord events will transpire to remove many insincere people
from what calls itself the Church, and will bring many other people into
it.
- What does the oil represent?
- Preparedness.
The Holy Spirit.
- Yes. For a person to be truly a Christian, God's Spirit must
enter into that person. This is not what so many people call the "baptism
of the Holy Ghost". For a person to be truly a Christian they must
be born again, or born from above, that is, God's Spirit enters into the
heart of the believer and unites with them. This must happen or the person
is not a Christian. Also, another name for the Holy Spirit is the Teacher,
and the Teacher, living inside of a person, makes the Word of God understandable
to that person.
- Faithfulness.
- The Bible.
- No. The Bible and the Holy Spirit are one, but that doesn't mean that
the ten without oil did not read the Bible. The Bible must come alive in
a person's HEART, and not in the mind.
- John 5:39-40
You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you
possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me,
40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life. (NIV)
- Here Jesus is telling the Jews that just because they read the Scriptures
diligently that doesn't mean that they have life. It is not the reading
of the Bible, but the believing of the Bible. Believing happens in the
heart, and not in the mind.
- Who do the wise virgins represent?
True Christians.
- Devout Churchgoers.
- No. Today those that are big on going to, and being part of, what calls
itself the church have missed what is truly important, and that is, a true
and living relationship with God. Today there are many bridesmaids waiting
for the bridegroom, but few that have oil in their lamps. The major reason
for this is because many wolves have entered into what calls itself the
church and they forcibly drive away any true children of God. They are
in great number, and band together, and utter lies concerning the truth.
People seeking the truth don't know what to believe and so they go with
the flow and are deceived along with their teachers.
- Please don't think that I am making this up. This is the meaning of
the parable.
- The "good" people.
- No, many people today think that they are "good people" and
so they are going to heaven, but is this what the Bible teaches? Why then
did Jesus offer his life as an offering for sin? Why then did Jesus say...
- John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through me. (NIV)
- People that have diligently read the Bible.
- What is meant by keeping watch, lest
you be unprepared?
It means that you must continually seek
the Lord and never let him be far from your thoughts, that is, always keeping
your relationship with him alive and growing.
- Yes. If Jesus Christ is not the most important thing in your
life, then you do not belong to him. You must seek him with all of your
might.
- Matthew 22:37-38
Jesus replied: ""Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest
commandment. (NIV)
- It means that you should always pay attention at church and be a regular
member.
- No, a relationship with God is not about going to church.
- You "buy" your oil from the Church, which means that you must
give ten percent of your money to the church.
- No, a relationship with God is not about money.
- It means that you should stock up on food and supplies so that when the
time of Judgment comes you will be able to survive it.
- Is the "wedding banquet" spoke
of in this parable the same as the one mentioned in Matthew 22:2-14, and in
Luke 14:16-24?
Yes.
- No.
- What is a another name for the wedding
banquet?
- Heaven.
- Yes, but this is not the best answer.
- The New Jerusalem.
- Yes, but this is not the best answer.
- The bride of Christ.
- Yes, but this is not the best answer.
- The Father's house.
- Yes, but this is not the best answer.
All of the above.
- Yes, all of the above names are good for what is to come for
those that belong to God.
