People usually refer to the story in Geneses 11:1-9 as the "Tower of Babel" story, but this is not really a good title for it. They should call it the "City of Babel" story. The "city" is the thing that the people are building. This "city" has a tower.

Now, the wording of things in the Bible is very important. The fact that they said, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Genesis 11:3 (NIV)is very important. What this is saying is that man set out to build a society for himself that did not depend upon God. God made the stone, but man said let us use bricks that we make.

Towers in the ancient world were made for defense. A city was made and they would erect a wall around the city with towers here and there from which they could rain down arrows on the attackers. The reference to the tower reaching up into heaven is not a reference to its great height, but to the fact that it was intended to protect them from God. This tower represents false religion.

From the time that man started building the city of Babel to this day, man is still trying to build a city that will protect himself from God.

Everything in our society is designed to that end. We have doctors and hospitals so that we need not rely on God to heal us. We have a military so we need not have to rely on God to protect us from our enemies. We have dams to protect us from floods and to provide water during dry spells.

The list goes on and on. Now, the world doesn't see that all of these things are attempts at protecting us from God. All this is done on a more or less subconscience level, but they are nonetheless attempts at protecting us from God.

This idea that capitalism is good and communism is bad is not correct. Capitalism and Communism are both cites made my man in an attempt to live apart from God. And I tell you, my brothers and sisters in the Lord, that democracy is not the answer. This idea that you get a say in government is not true. God is your King, and whatever he says, that is what is done. The whole world has been deceived by the Harlot of Babylon.

Revelation 18:2-3

With a mighty voice he shouted: "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. 3 For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries." (NIV)

The Capitalist say, "Look it works, see how much money we get." but the Harlot, and those that put their faith in her, will be destroyed.

Revelation 18:4-5

Then I heard another voice from heaven say: "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; 5 for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes. (NIV)

Now, my brothers and sister, don't think that this is my opinion. Don't think that this is my idea. This is what the Scriptures are saying concerning our world. Why else do you think that the Lord is going to lay waste the whole world?

Revelation 18:21

Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: "With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again. (NIV)

Revelation 18:24

In her was found the blood of prophets and of the saints, and of all who have been killed on the earth." (NIV)

My friends, it is very important that you consider my words, that you read all of the references in the Bible of Babylon and that you consider very carefully where your true faith lies, and then put your faith firmly where it belongs.

Revelation 17:3

Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. (NIV)

There is something else that is important to understand concerning the image of the Harlot riding the beast. The scarlet beast is symbolic of Satan's fourth kingdom, the Roman Empire. The harlot is riding the beast, that is, she is in control. Satan hates that; he wants to be in control. The example of what Satan wants, that I am now going to show you struck me as pretty funny when the Lord let me see it.

The statue in Daniel chapter two is really a statue of Satan and his kingdoms. It starts out with the head of Gold, which we are told...

Daniel 2:36-38

"This was the dream, and now we will interpret it to the king. 37 You, O king, are the King of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; 38 in your hands he has placed mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold. (NIV)

Lest you thing that this does not apply to Satan look at this:

Luke 4:5-7

The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 So if you worship me, it will all be yours." (NIV)

Satan is the power behind all of the Gentile kingdoms. That is why we see Satan as a red dragon being cast down out of heaven and this is the same dragon that represents the fourth kingdom. They are tied together.

Anyway here is the thing that I thought was pretty funny.

Daniel 2:1-6

In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep. 2 So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king, 3 he said to them, "I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means."

4 Then the astrologers answered the king in Aramaic, "O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it."

5 The king replied to the astrologers, "This is what I have firmly decided: If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned into piles of rubble. 6 But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and interpret it for me." (NIV)

That is the kind of power that Satan wants. Now, can you imagine what would happen if President Clinton gathered up his Cabinet and told them that he had a dream last night and that he wanted them to tell him what he dreamed and what it meant, and that if they couldn't he as going to have them cut into pieces and their households destroyed. Well, I imagine that they would have him in a rubber room faster than you can say King Nebuchadnezzar!

Revelation 17:16-18

The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God's words are fulfilled. 18 The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth." (NIV)

The last thing that I would like to point out is the fact that the woman is a woman. In the Bible's symbology God is represented by the male image, and humanity is represented by the female image. The fact that it is a female image representing the great city that rules over the kings of the earth, tells us that this thing is made my man and does not originate from Satan. The "city" is man's attempt to protect himself from God and in a way from Satan too.

Satan hates the power that the city has over him, so he intends, as God has put into his heart, to cause the economic destruction of the world, and so he will take back the power from those that now control the world through monetary means.
