Questions about Zechariah 14:1-8

    3. The time of the great day of Judgment.
      • No. No one will escape the day of Judgment.

      • Yes. This is the day that the two witnesses standup on their feet and go up into heaven. This is the day that the beast comes. This is the day when the beast tries to kill the devoted Israelites in Jerusalem, but the Lord comes to their rescue and the ground opens up and allows the Israelites to escape, but kills the army of the beast when they try to follow.

     

     

  2. Where exactly does the Lord stand?
    1. Right Answer!On the Mount of Olives.
      • Yes, this event takes place on the Mount of Olives, the exact location from which the Lord ascended into heaven.
    2. At the site of the Temple in Jerusalem.
      • No. The passage says that it was at the Mount of Olives.
    3. At the same place of his birth in Bethlehem.
      • No. Bethlehem is about five miles away.
    4. The the valley of the shadow of death.

      • No, the Church is caught-up to heaven at the Lord's Coming. The Church will not need to escape anything from earth again.
    2. Right Answer!The faithful in Israel.
      • Yes, the faithful in Israel escape. This is all described in Revelation 12.
    3. The many in Jerusalem.
      • No, no the many in Israel. The term 'the many' refers to the unfaithful in Israel.
    4. The Gentiles.
      • No, not the Gentiles. The escaping Israelites are those mentioned in Revelation 8:1-8.

     

     

  4. How is it that the people escape the army that surrounds Jerusalem?
    1. They leave before the army has time to surround the city.
      • No, we see in Daniel 11:31 that the army surrounds the city.
    2. They sneak out through mountain passes.
      • No, they escape through supernatural means.
    3. God stops time and they just walk out of the city.
      • This is very close to the truth, but is not the best answer.
    4. Right Answer!The ground opens passages through which they escape in two directions.
      • Yes, God does make a day that operates outside of time, but he also opens the earth and provides two escape routes from the surrounded city.

    1. A day like any other.
      • No, this is a unique day.
    2. A day of fierce storms and rain and hail.
      • We are not told of any fierce storms.

      • Yes, this is a unique day, having neither day nor night. A day unlike any other before it.

      • We are not told that the day will be longer, only different.

     

     

  6. What makes up the "living water" spoken of in Zechariah 14:8?
    1. Right Answer!The 144,000 Israelites spoken of in Revelation 7:1-8 and Revelation 14:1-5.
      • Yes, the living water spoken of in Zechariah 14:8 is made up of the faithful in Israel, that is, the 144,000 Israelites.

      • No, the name "living water" is used to describe the Holy Spirit, but in this case it is talking about those who need to escape Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit would have no need of escape.

      • No, the Church is caught-up, or "raptured" at the Lord's Coming and will therefore have no need of escape from earthly attackers.
    4. The Jews in Jerusalem.
      • No, Revelation 12 describes this event and we see that the Woman escapes but the "rest of her offspring" do not. The "rest of her offspring" would be the Jews, and whatever other Israelites in Jerusalem that are not part of the Woman.

      • Yes, when the Lord comes to deliver the Woman from Jerusalem he will bring with him the Church.

      • No, it is the Church that the Lord brings with him at this time.

      • No. The Old Testament saints are resting in there graves awaiting the last day, that is the day of the resurrection.
    4. The martyred prophets of old.
      • No. The martyred prophets of old would be included in the Old Testament saints. See (c.) above.

     

     

  8. What is the spiritual power behind those that surround the city?
    1. The Harlot of Babylon.
      • No. The source of power behind the Harlot of Babylon is not the beast, nor is it Satan.
      • Revelation 17:15-17
        Then the angel said to me, "The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages. 16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17 For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God's words are fulfilled. (NIV)
      • We can see from this that the beast hates the Prostitute, and therefore cannot be the power behind her.

      • This is not the best answer. Satan is ultimately the power behind the beast and the beast's, or Antichrist's army.
