Questions about Luke 21:5-28

  1. Who was the first person to be resurrected?
    1. The man who's body touched the prophet Elisha's bones and was brought back to life, (2 Kings 13:21.)
      • No. It is important to understand that a resurrection is different than a dead person that is alive again. There are several accounts of dead people coming back to life, but Jesus is the first person to be resurrected.
    2. The widow at Nain's son, (Luke 7:11-13.)
      • No, see (a.) above.
    3. The little girl in Mark 5:22-24, 35-43.
      • No, see (a.) above.
    4. Lazarus in John 11.
      • No, see (a.) above.
    5. Right Answer!Jesus Christ.
      • Yes.
      • Acts 26:23
...that the Christ would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would proclaim light to his own people and to the Gentiles." (NIV)
      • This Bible must be understood within its own understanding. The Bible says that Jesus was the first, and so he was. The other people that were dead and then alive again were not resurrected like Jesus. They were just very very sick, (dead), and then they were healed, (brought back to life.) The Bible says that such people are not dead but asleep. You must understand the Bible in the light of what it says, and not in the light of what it seems to say. God know everything and some things are very subtle.

After he had said this, he went on to tell them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up."
12 His disciples replied, "Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better." 13 Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep. (NIV)
