Summary: God has accepted every people of the earth and so must you.

Racism

I have been asked to write a paper on racism, and well, I guess I shall. I had not thought that a paper was necessary, but I was wrong. Such a fundamental thing sadly needs to be addressed.

The concept of race deals with only the bodies of man, that is, the flesh. Our bodies are totally meaningless regarding the things of God.

My friend, do you honestly think that God cares what color hair you have? Or, how about eye color; is it truly important?

Romans 8:5-9

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (KJV)

Racism is a product of our natural human instincts. Humans are naturally afraid of any that do not belong to the group. It is part of our survival instinct. If you are led by your natural human instincts, then you will die in your sins, for the flesh does not bring you to God; rather the spirit within a man leads you to God.

Do you, my friend, really think that God judges a man, or woman, differently when that man or woman resides in a body ethnically different than, say European? God made man; all types, and colors and sizes. They are all the same to God.

Acts 10:34-35

Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right. (NIV)

My friend, do you believe that the Bible is the Word of God? Yes? then how can this passage mean anything but what it clearly says? God accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right, so how can you pass judgment on what God has declared clean and fail to come under God's judgment?

I will say this as clearly as I can; God will judge you with the measure that you judge others. If you condemn people based upon their body color, or their national origin, then God will condemn you.

Matthew 7:1-2

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (NIV)

Was Jesus kidding when he said this? Did he mean what he said? Frequently I see people who claim to be Christians, but they don't really believe a word that the Lord has said. Can such a person truly be Christ's disciple? No, one that does not listen to the Master is not his disciple. A disciple of Christ is one who listens to, or follows, that is, lives in the same way as the Master. When the Bible says that God does not judge a man, or woman, based upon his "race" or national origin, and you do, well, that says that you are not of the Masters household. This is clear and simple.

Now, we are all raised in the world. We are biased by the world's way of thinking. When we come to Christ, we need to reject all thinking that doesn't line up with God's thinking. This doesn't happen instantly upon Christian conversion.

When I was a boy my earthly father harbored racist opinions and as a result I too harbored them. Neither my earthly father, nor myself, went out of our way to hurt people of different national origins, but we were nonetheless guilty. After I came to Christ such thoughts and ideas just lost their importance over time. The funny thing is I don't remember when I stopped having prejudged racial thoughts; they just melted away.

This is the way of so many things. In our youth we are taught that such-and-such and this-and-that is true, but in our walk with God we come to understand that such things are not true. This is what it means to be conformed into the image and likeness of Christ. This conformation into Christlikeness in not an option but is inevitable for anyone who truly has the Spirit of Christ living inside them. The Spirit will remove such wicked thoughts from the heart of a believer and will quicken his desire for the salvation of all.

God does not judge anyone based on his or her national origin, and neither should you.

Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (NIV)
