Revelation 20:4-6
I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And
I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus
and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and
had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and
reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life
until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and
holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power
over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him
for a thousand years. The New International Version
Luke 7:11-16
Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd
went along with him. 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried
out--the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from
the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he
said, "Don't cry."
14 Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He
said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" 15 The dead man sat up and began
to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 They were all filled with awe and praised God. "A great prophet has appeared
among us," they said. "God has come to help his people." The New International

Mark 5:22-24, 35-43
Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell
at his feet 23 and pleaded earnestly with him, "My little daughter is dying.
Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live." 24
So Jesus went with him.
35 While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue
ruler. "Your daughter is dead," they said. "Why bother the teacher
any more?"
36 Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, "Don't be afraid;
just believe."
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.
38 When they came to the home of the synagogue ruler, Jesus saw a commotion, with
people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, "Why all this
commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep." 40 But they laughed
at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child's father and mother and the disciples
who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and
said to her, "Talitha koum!" (which means, "Little girl, I say to
you, get up!"). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was
twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders
not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat. The

Luke 8:40-56
40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.
41 Then a man named Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came and fell at Jesus' feet,
pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about
twelve, was dying.
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there
who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. 44
She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding
stopped.
45 "Who touched me?" Jesus asked.
When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing
against you."
46 But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from
me."
47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell
at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him
and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, "Daughter, your
faith has healed you. Go in peace."
49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue
ruler. "Your daughter is dead," he said. "Don't bother the teacher
any more."
50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe, and she
will be healed."
51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except
Peter, John and James, and the child's father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people
were wailing and mourning for her. "Stop wailing," Jesus said. "She
is not dead but asleep."
53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand
and said, "My child, get up!" 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood
up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astonished,
but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.
John 11:14-15, 38-44
So then he told them plainly, "Lazarus is dead, 15 and for your sake I am glad
I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him."
38 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was
a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 39 "Take away the stone," he
said.
"But, Lord," said Martha, the sister of the dead man, "by this time
there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days."
40 Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see
the glory of God?"
41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank
you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for
the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."
43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" 44
The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth
around his face.
Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go." The New
International Version
John 5:24
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has
eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.
John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me
will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never
die. Do you believe this?" The New International Version
